Being the Social Media Manager at GameHouse is an important job and Bill is the voice of GameHouse on the GameHouse Community Forums, where he is affectionately known as ‘Mr. Bill”, our Facebook fan page, on Google Plus and Twitter. Bill posts announcements and news of game releases, promotions and special programs plus he answers our customers’ questions and offers guidance to our extensive Knowledge Base as well as to our Support Team when needed. He also manages our Ratings and Reviews program, where our customers share their thoughts on the games they’ve played.
Bill keeps a watchful eye out for what our customers are telling us through their posts in our social media channels, and he regularly shares that content with his colleagues on the GameHouse Marketing Team. When asked, Bill said one of the things he enjoys most about working at GameHouse is, “the opportunity to get to know our customers better – their interests, what they like about the games, and their suggestions for how we can improve.” He’s also a gamer himself and loves to play Match 3 games, especially his current favorite Jewel Match 4.
Before joining the ranks at GameHouse in October, 2009 as our Associate Community Manager, Bill worked for years in the travel industry. In fact, this native Midwesterner (he originally hails from the Cleveland, Ohio area) is an avid traveler and has explored all over the world. When asked about the most interesting trip he’s ever taken, he said it’s a tossup between an amazing vacation in Turkey and an adventure-filled, five week journey through Australia and New Zealand.
Just how adventurous? Well, how does strapping on a parachute, running down a mountain at full speed, then jumping off and soaring through the air sound? For Bill, this extreme sport – known in New Zealand as parapenting (and here in the States as paragliding), seemed a perfect way to enjoy a sunny spring afternoon – his birthday, in fact – in Queenstown, New Zealand back in 1998.
And while he was at it, he also decided to fly by wire – another rather extreme sport where you lie flat in a rocket-shaped, propeller-powered capsule that is hoisted up hundreds of feet above a canyon and then released, allowing you to “fly” over the landscape below. What great birthday presents! J
Don’t be fooled though – there’s a lot more to Bill than these adrenaline-pumping adventures. He is also quite the foodie and enjoys nothing more than relaxing over a wonderful meal paired with a great wine or beer and good company. And whenever one of us needs an afternoon sugar fix, we know just where to go – Bill’s desk, where a decadent assortment of fine chocolates usually awaits. (We all love dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt!)
Bill is also a music enthusiast and loves the classical organ, especially those voiced in the French Romantic style, and he particularly enjoys any opportunity to hear improvisations performed on the King of Instruments. He’s made many “pilgrimages” to hear his favorite organs and musicians around the world, including France, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Canada and Australia.
And if Bill could have any super hero power? Forget about super-human strength or X-ray vision. Bill would choose the power of flight. Now that we know about his parapenting and fly by wire escapades, we’re not at all surprised.
